How much will this thing weigh?

While Tool fans are still digesting “Fear Inoculum,” the just-released ten minute epic that serves as their first new music in 13 years, the band that makes its own rules is finalizing plans for the album the track will appear on. And the physical release is going to make fans think twice about streaming.

A deluxe, limited-edition CD version of Fear Inoculum features a 4” HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage. There’s also a charging cable, two watt speaker and a 36-page booklet. How much will this thing weigh?

The so-called tri-fold soft pack video brochure was the brainchild of guitarist Adam Jones. The price tag will be $45 when the album comes out on August 30.

Fear Inoculum is Tool’s first studio album since 2006’s 10,000 Days. The new LP is said to clock in at more than 80 minutes. Jones told Revolver the band didn’t plan on writing long songs.

“The songs flow; they’re cool, and the reactions from my friends that I’ve played it for have been like ‘That was 12 minutes? It didn’t seem like it.’ And that’s what you want,” Jones said. “It’s not like we said ‘Let’s write the longest songs we can. We’re just letting creativity do its thing.”
