Rock Blog: Remembering Lemmy...

January 3, 2017

When most people thing ROCK, their mind automatically thinks about Lemmy Kilmister. Today, I want to take a moment to remember the legend he was. It’s been just over a year since his passing, and I know a lot of my friends are still mourning his death to this day.

The guy did so much for rock music, and was a legend to so many. Ripping bass riffs and powerful, unforgiving vocals, Lemmy helped define what heavy metal is today, and a lot of our favorite bands would not be around if it wasn’t for Lemmy and Motorhead’s influence on the genre that we all love so much.

We can take a look back a year ago to how his friends and other rock gods paid tribute to him after his death.

Ozzy Osbourne - “Lost one of my best friends, Lemmy, today, He will be sadly missed. He was a warrior and a legend. I will see you on the other side.”

Gene Simmons - “Lemmy: Rest in peace, shake the heavens, my friend.”

Scott Ian of Anthrax - “He lived a life of dreams and he went out on top. He was Motorhead and HE PLAYED ROCK & ROLL!!!”

Simply put, his influence, persona, and music are missed in a way that rock music can’t explain.

Some of my favorite Motorhead videos that you can use to keep Lemmy alive:
