ROCK BLOG: Mastodon at the Paramount - April 15th!

April 6, 2017

I listened to Mastodon's new album, Emperor of Sand while getting ready for work this morning.  It left me with an urge to kick some ass (in a good way).  Mastodon's seventh studio album was created in the dark light of friends and family members battling cancer.  Emperor of Sand takes us on a metaphorical journey through the desert, starting with a death sentence then eventually morphing into hope and salvation.  Go experience the heavy metal madness of Mastodon on Saturday, April 15th at the Paramount Theatre!  Get your tickets HERE.

"Show Yourself" is a single off of their new album.  As you will see from the first scene, the grim reaper is chasing an elderly woman, reiterating that this album is about facing/battling death.

Mastodon formed in 2000 out of Atlanta, GA.  Members include Brann Dailor, Brent Hinds, Bill Kelliher and Troy Sanders.  Over the years they have toured with some of the best, including Metallica and Tool.  They will be sharing the stage for this tour with California native rock band, Eagles of Death Metal.  Members of Mastodon do not lack "personality".  After watching and reading numerous interviews with the band members, I have to say I am even way more pumped to see their show on April 15th, as they definitely don't hold back on much!  They are nuts in the best way.  Everything you would expect a metal band to be and more.  See for yourself the twisted, awesome personality of guitarist/vocalist, Brent Hinds at NAMM this year.

Another single off of their album, Emperor of Sand.

I must admit that I knew very little about Mastodon, being why I chose to write this blog about them.  Now that I know more about the band members themselves, their music really takes on a new meaning.  I am officially hooked and genuinely excited to see them perform on April 15th!  Will you be there, too?  I sure as hell hope so!  Let's give these Georgia boys a show they won't forget!
