Concerts, Concerts, Concerts!

Concerts, Concerts, Concerts!

January 16, 2017

Welcome to 2017! In this new world of the music business how do many of the bands and musicians make money? Yip, tour tour and tour and sell merchandise to survive. So I thought I'd go through my and KISW's concert calendar and give a little shout-out to some bands coming (I'm sure I'm missing a few shows) to Seattle this January and February you should probably get out and see:

Tues 1/17 Triple Door - Neal Morse Band {Sold Out - Standing Room Tickets Only in back}
One of the great prog-rock bands out there today. Worked with these guys on  Cruise To The Edge in 2015 and will be back on the seas with them in February. You might know Neal's drummer..the one and only Mike Portnoy! Show is sold-out!

Weds 1/18 El Corazon 7:30pm - UDO {Tickets}
The Udo Dirkschneider, "Farewell To Accept" Tour - Guess he's not playing any Accept songs live after this tour so get out if ya wanna hear that unique voice sing those Accept classics "Balls To The Wall", "Midnight Mover" "Restless & Wild" etc. do it!

Weds 1/18 El Corazon Funhouse 9pm - Dorothy {Sold Out}
Saw Dorothy open up for Halestorm and she kicks ass! Bluesy hard rock with piss and vinegar attitude. Sorry show is sold-out but at least ya know the name and look for her next time in Seattle.

Weds 1/25 Chop Suey 8pm - Ninet {Tickets}
When great artists from way across the globe come to town it's always exciting news. If you're a die-hard Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) fan like me, you know the beautiful voice that has blanketed his last 2 releases "Hand.Cannot.Erase" & "4 1/2", yes that voice is Ninet Tayeb! All the way from Israel (one the most famous people in the Israeli entertainment industry) she's coming to Seattle! One of the best voices you will ever here! Tickets only $8 are you kidding me! Don't miss this!! Watch her sing Gnarls Barkley - Crazy video HERE! Mesmerizing! That'll turn ya into a fan...this is actually funny too!! Her new album "Paper Parachute" is out Feb 3rd! Pre-Order here or just go to the show and maybe she'll be selling it there!

Fri 1/27 Snoqualmie Casino - Queensryche {Tickets}
Finally home after touring the world in 2016 and recent U.S. tour with Armored Saint, Queensryche are home writing new album material and warming up for their Monsters of Rock Cruise shows with a little hometown cooking at the Snoqualmie Casino. Very few tickets left.

Weds 2/1 - Studio Seven - Orgy/Powerman 5000 {Tickets}
You want some of the best in hard rock metal industrial vibes? The 'Death Pop' of Orgy ruled the late 90s with the New Order cover of "Blue Monday" and few other big hits like "Stitches" & "Fiction (Dreams in Digital)" but what's really cool is their last release "Talk Sick" in 2015 is still on heavy rotation in my iTunes player! Powerman 5000 also a late 90s phenom with the great album "Tonight the Stars Revolt!" with the Top 40 hits  "When Worlds Collide" and "Nobody's Real". Did you know PM5K frontman Spider One is the younger brother of Rob Zombie? Local industrial rock kings Syztem 7 are opening the show!

Sat 2/4 - Studio Seven - Lordi {Tickets}
Fans of Kiss, GWAR and any theatrical horror rock band better NOT miss this one. First time to Seattle and of course I'll be gone on the Monsters of Rock Cruise working ha! "Monstereophonic (Theaterror vs. Demonarchy)" is the eighth studio album by this Finnish hard rock band released in Sept. 2016.

Sat 2/11 Neptune Theatre - Ace Frehley {Tickets}
Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley on support of his new covers solo album "Origins Vol. 1" coming to Seattle. Ace hasn't  played a solo show in Seattle since the Off Ramp ('95) & RKCNDY ('94) days! Basically 2 decades so ya better be there at the Neptune Theatre. Watch for my big KISW blog/photos on this show. Few tickets left for this show.

Sun 2/19 Paramount Theatre - Experience Hendrix {Tickets}
The 'Guitar Event Of The Year,' the multi-artist celebration known as the Experience Hendrix Tour is set to return in 2017. These special concert performances present legendary artists who join together to pay homage to Jimi Hendrix. This tour we get blues legend Buddy Guy, Black Label Society and former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, as well as Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dweezil Zappa, & Keb' Mo' will also be featured among many others. Billy Cox, bassist for both the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys, anchors a rhythm section that provides the foundation for exciting renditions of numerous signature Hendrix favorites. Last year all 27 shows sold-out!

Weds 2/22 El Corazon - Overkill {Tickets}
If there was a Big 6 Overkill would definitely be in that Kings of Thrash Metal listing. Probably the most consistent from album to album of those bands. At least my favorite. They'll be supporting their new album coming out Feb 10th called "The Grinding Wheel". It's AMAZING!!

Weds 2/22 The Moore Theatre - Alter Bridge {Tickets}
You recently saw Alter Bridge kick some ass at the KISW Pain in the Grass show a few months ago! They are back as they tour their fifth studio album: "The Last Hero" headed by singer Myles Kennedy (Slash).

Thurs 2/23 Showare Center - Bret Michaels - Valentine's Mega Bash {Tickets}
Poison's Bret Michaels - Valentine's Mega Bash at the Kent Showare Center with Warrent and Firehouse opening for an 80s hair metal throwback! Make sure to catch Bret and Poison open up for Def Leppard later this summer at White River!
