"Hei--di, heido, heida...Hei--di, heido, heida...Heidi, heido, heidahahahahahahaha..." Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
One of the greatest intros and screams of any hard rock/metal/thrash song EVER! Yeah you know Accept's "Fast As A Shark" starting on the classic "Restless & Wild" album. That scream, from longtime former Accept singer Udo Dirkschneider. Last time he sang with Accept was back in 2005. Since then, and even before that time, he's had his solo band U.D.O. which released their first album "Animal House" in 1987 when he first left Accept. Since then U.D.O. has released another 14 studio albums. With so many albums and material to chose from, Udo decided back in 2015 to go under the Dirkschneider name and play his famous Accept tunes one last time before taking them out of the U.D.O. setlist forever.

Well the 2016/2017 tour went so well the fans demanded another and Udo replied with a "Back to the Roots Part II" and for us in Seattle thank goodness because last year our Seattle show was cancelled due to the band getting stuck in a winter ice storm down on the Washington/Oregon border (see original video announcement here). So to town Dirkschneider came featuring his current U.D.O. lineup of Fitty Wienhold (bass), Andrey Smirnov (guitar), Bill Hudson (guitar) and the coolest part his son Sven Dirkschneider on drums.
Blasting through a 20 Accept song setlist that included some of my favorites like "Breaker", "Midnight Mover", "London Leather Boys", "Balls To The Wall" (view show video), "Fast as a Shark", "Princess of the Dawn" (view show video) and some not so favorites like "The Beast Inside" "Fight It Back" and "Amamos la Vida". Now you know I'm being sarcastic on those 3 songs because they didn't play "Starlight", "Flash Rockin' Man" and "Son of a Bitch" which they would've done originally (I saw the last tour setlist) if not iced out of the first set date in Seattle. I'm not gonna complain, I was just happy Dirkschneider came back on this tour and what a show it was. "Metal Heart", "Midnight Mover" & "Princess of the Dawn" the crowd ranging from us old to the new generation metalheads were all in unison fists pumping, heads flying and yelling out the lyrics only this genre of music can awesomely experience.
It was super hard for the big crowd to let Udo go knowing this is most likely (I never say never) the last time we'll see Udo sing his classic Accept band stuff unless there's an Accept reunion. I know it probably won't happen but Udo's voice is still incredibaly razor blade gargling perfect!!! One of the greats! If ya missed this tour you can experience it home on your TV or computer with the "Live - Back To The Roots" 2017 DVD/Blu Ray on AFM Records!  Keep up-to-date on all of U.D.O.'s future doings here:
