The hard-rock metal holiday themed extravaganza known as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra has been rocking the Northwest and U.S.A. since 12/13/00! How do I know that? I was there and got some photos of the early "no-budget" years ha! I remember that Paramount Theatre show with light pods lined up on stage pointing up, low layer of dry ice fog on stage, little white dangly Christmas lights hanging from light rig in front of back black stage curtain, the tuxedos etc. Basic production back then, but look at it now 19 years later, mind blowing eye spectacle!
The All-New Christmas Eve and Other Stories Tour of 2019 thankfully had some new tricks and song changes up their sleeve. Last few years been kind repetitive but this year BOOM! New graphics, lighting rig tricks, crazy fire and the BIG surprise a real gigantic sphere ball in the middle of the arena with two Tesla coils! Wait till ya see/hear this thing. Guarantee the city you see this TSO in will have flickering lights through the whole city during the show ha ha!!! Our West Coast lineup (yes there's two complete tour groups going on at the same time East/West) stayed pretty much the same (Al Pitrelli, Jeff Scott Soto, Angus Clark, Asha Mevlana, Blas Elias, Andrew Ross, Chloe Lowery, Jane Mangini, Vitalij Kuprij etc.) but there was a new awesome voice hire of Nate Armor who sang "Old City Bar" and the Savatage classic "Believe" in the set.

So basically the first part of the set was the original first Christmas Eve & Other Stories tour I saw back in the day with the whole story line and narrative included by the great voice Phillip Brandon. Then the second part part of the set is where they really rock it and blow things up ha! Was so happy to see them add the Savatage cover of "Handful of Rain" in the set. Would love to see more Savatage in the set especially from the "Gutter Ballet" album. If you're into TSO remember this band came out of the existence of the metal band Savatage so check out their albums including "Dead Winter Dead" that includes "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)". The show was flawless except for the hydraulics that stopped drummer Blas Elias' platform and any other member going way up as usual during the show. Angus (guitar) and Asha (Violin) still got their workout running around the venue playing.
It's amazing year after year how many new fans are in the crowd seeing this band for the first time. I mean lets face it, the whole family from Mom and Dad to the kids and Grandparents can come out get the holiday spirit and most importantly (in my books at least) ROCK OUT! One thing we know for sure is the TSO show will be at The Tacoma Dome for at least one more year before they most likely head back to their original home and being rebuilt Seattle Center Arena which opens in Spring of 2021. Stay afloat of all Trans-Siberian Orchestra tour dates, info and possibly a new album release next year!!!
