Jabroni Journal: My Favorite Wrestling Video Game Of All Time

None Will Top WCW vs. NWO Revenge

WCW vs. NWO Revenge (Nintendo 64 – 1998)

Everyone loves a good wrestling video game. Whether you’re an actual fan of pro wrestling or not, there’s no disputing how fun a game like WWE 2K17 is when you bring it to a party and face off against a few friends. And while these games continue to get more and more advanced with added features, I will always hold one game high above the rest as my favorite wrestling video game of all time – WCW vs. NWO Revenge for Nintendo 64.

I can’t even begin to guess how many hours I’ve spend on this damn game. I was a huge fan of 1997’s WCW vs. NWO World Tour, as it was the first wrestling game to use AKI’s super-badass grappling system - a system that allowed players to avoid the constant button mashing frustration of previous rasslin releases.

So when WCW released the follow up in 1998, I had been anticipating it for weeks.  This was right in the thick of the well-documented WCW Nitro vs. WWF Raw Monday Night Wars. Truthfully, I was much more of a fan of WWF when it came to the televised product, but there was no doubt that during this period, WCW had the superior video games.

Along with the highly enjoyable game play, Revenge boasted a huge roster of WCW talent. Just scroll through the game and you could choose anyone from Bret Hart to Hulk Hogan to Fit Finlay. In total, there were 63 characters to choose from, which was mind-blowing for a kid like me.

What about you? What’s your favorite wrestling video game of all time?
