Can You Maintain Control During This Simple But Challenging Move?

It's not as easy as it looks!

Today’s #MobilityMonday drill is going to help you loosen up the hips and mid-back. These two areas get particularly jacked up from sitting for extended periods of time. These days, most of us sit for extended periods of time at some point or another, so this is a great one to have in your toolbox. Try them out after work, flights, or a weekend-long Netflix binge! ;)

I named this drill The Kraken just now, because I filmed the video in our new KISW Hockey Jersey, and that’s what I want our team name to be! Also, “Deep Squat + Thoracic Rotation” (as it’s known in fitness circles) sounds wack.


You can do these daily, or as needed- you know your body better than I do. I usually do rounds of 5 and plug them into my day. They go great in warm-ups if you're putting together a full-on exercise routine for the day. In addition to the mobility benefits, it will also help improve your squat.
