Why The Bench Press Is Over-rated and Unneccesary

And what to do instead!

Thanks for checking out Down with the Fitness, a daily guide to help you improve your health, and your life, in manageable steps!

Today’s #WeightRoomWednesday is all about the bench press and why I think it’s overrated. I also have the solution if you decide you want to develop the same muscles (and more) that you would with the bench press, without the recurring shoulder pain so many experience! Check it out:

You should be able to make a set of 10 push ups (or dumbbell bench with no more than 30 lbs in each hand) SUUUPER HARD! This requires a lot of focus on your chest and shoulder muscles. Developing a “feel” for your muscles is far more important for long-term strength and health than chasing a number (whether that’s a weight, or amount of reps). Quality over quantity.

As always, if you ever have any questions or comments, you're invited to join the Down With The Fitness Facebook Group. It's also the best place to make sure you see future posts!
