Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age Scored Fatih Akin Movie, In The Fade

May 26, 2017

This week at the Cannes Film Festival, In The Fade premiered—a new film directed by Fatih Akin and scored by Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme.

The film follows Diane Kruger’s character who seeks revenge after her family is killed by Neo-Nazis. You can watch the tense trailer below.

This marks Homme’s first film score, and according to an interview with Variety, the collaboration was a bit of a surprise.

So, just how did Akin land on a first-timer to score his film? Akin shares that he listened to a lot of QOTSA during the writing process, finding that the self-destructive nature of the band’s music seemed to align nicely with the overall theme of the movie. After sending Homme the film, Akin says he was immediately on board, and the rest is history.

Now, how about some QOTSA?
