With over 100 million records sold worldwide with little to no radio or television support over their 40+ year history, Iron Maiden have taken a path their whole career that most bands of today have to live by to survive....their live show! Since the early 80s of seeing Iron Maiden live, they've always had to visual presence that made them interesting live especially behind their band mascot "Eddie". Over the years of non stop touring and thousands of shows behind them, Iron Maiden's stage productions have become more elaborate and amazing to coincide to their various subjected story-like telling songs. Crazy to think it's been over 32 years since Iron Maiden first played the Tacoma Dome on 2.10.87 - I was there and WOW has technology and effects come a long ways for Maiden's stage concerts.

Opening the show with "Ace's High" was epic! They had flying war plane (spinning propellor and all) flying around above the band onstage below the lights. Made for a few awesome and unique concert photos. Was incredible to see vocalist Bruce Dickinson at 61 years old run around the stage like a 21 year old the whole show that included one of many quick costume changes to match the subject matter of song's like "Where Eagles Dare" (winter wear), The Trooper (swordsman wear to battle "Eddie" onstage) and "Fear of the Dark (Jack The Ripper wear and face mask). Visually and musically I think even if you didn't know one Iron Maiden song you'd be entertained by their theatrical show and musical landscape. The full set of the night here at the Tacoma Dome included:

Aces High
Where Eagles Dare
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Clansman
The Trooper
Revelations
For the Greater Good of God
The Wicker Man
Sign of the Cross
Flight of Icarus
Fear of the Dark
The Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden
Encore:
The Evil That Men Do
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Run to the Hills

Besides their continued impressive musicianship and energized stage presence with Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray - Adrian Smith - Janick Gers (guitars) and the ever funny Nicko McBrain on drums, these Iron Maiden's are still kicking ass in their early to mid 60s. Besides their stage shows building a world wide following for concert goers year after years it's their line of merchandise that makes millions year in and year out with the "Eddie" character featured in different shirt ideas that always gets the fans to spend way more than they did for a ticket. Marketing is everything today and Iron Maiden are one of the long time kings of doing that for the fans.
Today on the interwebs you might have seen or read about an incident that happened during "Sign of the Cross". Don't believe everything being reported from what Bruce said on a fan/kid (he was an adult) being beaten by security (read article and see video proof). Security (and my friend) was sucker punched in the face (3:10 in the video) when the intoxicated guy was told to calm down because he was causing all kinds of issues around the fans up front watching the show.
I understand what Bruce saw and understand his onstage response as any of us would’ve done. However, what he said before "The Evil That Men Do", not knowing all the facts, could’ve caused a near riot. I’m glad I got out of there before the riled up crowd did anything stupid.  Thankfully everyone stayed calm. Security did their job and the show went on as usual. Up The Irons! Another Iron Maiden show in the books!

Opening the show was The Raven Age, a london based melodic metalcore band that includes non-other than Iron Maiden's Steve Harris' son George Harris on guitar.
If they seemed familiar to ya before they supported Iron Maiden on The Book of Souls World Tour back in 2016 also! Check them out: www.theravenage.com
