39 years ago today AC/DC released what would become one of the greatest, most iconic and best selling albums of all time. BACK IN BLACK. It's rare that a band can regain, let alone exceed, their prior successes after losing a lead singer.  Especially one as legendary as Bon Scott.  AC/DC did exactly that.

After it's release in July 1980 AC/DC went on to become the biggest rock band in the world and sell 200 million albums. 71 million of those were sold in the US alone.  To date, Back in Black has sold in excess of 40 million copies. It is the single biggest hard rock album ever released.
