Listen: DevilDriver covers Johnny Cash

June 19, 2018

Big thanks to our intern Mari Lozano for this write up on DevilDriver's cover of Johnny Cash's Ghost Riders in the Sky

DevilDriver teamed up with Randy Blythe from Lamb of God to cover Johnny Cash’s “Ghost Riders in the Sky.” Not only does the band get help from Randy Blythe but also Johnny Cash’s son John Carter Cash and his wife Ana Cristina Cash. Which it is such an awesome thing to see everyone come together to create the finished song. The band take a different take on the Johnny Cash classic song and modernize it making a song you can rock out to.

While, it may sound strange hearing a band like DevilDriver, sing “yippie i-oh,” and “yippie i-ay.” There’s no denial this song will make you want to rock out…which you probably never imagined doing to a Johnny Cash song. “Ghost Riders in the Sky” will be featured on the band’s upcoming country themed album Outlaws ‘til the End: Vol. 1. This is the follow up single to the band’s song “Country Heroes.”
You can hear the full album on July 6th via Napalm Records.
