Rock Blog: Ann Is Back In Town!

March 6, 2017

The 70s.The decade that ushered in the voice of women in rock. You had Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks. Oddly most of the lists I checked out didn’t include Ann Wilson. Why? Few could belt out a song like Ann. Probably because unlike other rock singers, Ann Wilson is a soprano! Bam!

Ann and Nancy Wilson. Born in California and raised in Seattle. Created a band every bit as rock and every bit as good as their male contemporaries, like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Journey. But they also had their own mystical, magical, sound. Heart has gone through some 30 members, and like little sister Nancy, Ann tours and records solo. Ann starts an American solo tour with her band, in home town Seattle this Wednesday at The Moore. Look for Heart tunes, solo tunes and of course plenty of Zeppelin, because no one other than Ann Wilson can make Robert Plant cry.

Here’s 5 of Ann Wilsons greatest moments:

Heart – 'Barracuda'

Lovemongers – 'Crazy on You'

Heart – 'Never'

Heart at The Kennedy Center Honors – Stairway to Heaven

Heart – 'Rock and Roll'
