Migs Blog: At The Blink 182 Show

Over the weekend I made a trip back to the late 90’s & early 2000’s as I checked out Blink 182 at the Key Arena.

Blink has a great new record out, it’s their first without Tom Delonge, as Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio frontman) is their new co-singer and guitarist.  There was a skepticism of the line up change, because as we have learned with music (and pretty much anything else), everyone HATES change.  I personally don’t get worked up about that crap…if the change was made for the sanity and bettering of the band, more power to them.  If you haven’t heard any of the new stuff…it’s a fun summer album (ok, summer is over…but I jammed on the record all summer long), here is the song “Bored To Death”:

One of my other favorite songs off this record is the 16 second opus, “Built This Pool”…yes, I said it is 16 seconds long…

They played both of those songs, but also cranked out all of their hits…and I have to say, they sounded great…also, not having Tom showed zero impact on the drawing power of the band…the Key was PACKED all the way up to the 300 level.

The highlight was something that I have NEVER seen before, and I have been to hundreds of shows…a group of blow up dolls crowd surfing!
