So over the weekend something pretty damn special happened for those of us that love the Seattle music scene.

On Saturday night there was a benefit show for SMASH (Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare), and they had a bunch of Seattle musicians on stage playing the entire catalog of Mother Love Bone.  Tickets for this show sold out immediately, and man do I wish I would have picked up a ticket as the night ended with the guys from Mother Love Bone jumping on stage to play a few of their songs.  They were joined by Shawn Smith and Om Johari to handle the vocals for the late great Andrew Wood.

Thankfully someone named Jeff recorded that moment…enjoy!

One of the other (of many) highlights was when Carrie Akre and Shawn Smith did a duet and covered Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns…

Mother Love Bone is one of my absolute favorite bands…if you haven’t heard them, I thought I would give you a quick introduction to them and below are my three favorite MLB songs.

Gentle Groove.  This one is completely selfish.  This song was the song that my wife and I had our first dance to at our wedding.  This song is pure perfection, from the music to the lyrics to the overall sound/production.

Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns.  An epic masterpiece.  That’s all I need to say.

Stardog Champion.  I had a tough time picking this one…I wanted to show off their “rocking” side, and all of their louder songs are so damn good…but this one stands out for the group sing along at the end (after when Andrew sings “and the children used to sing out loud”).
