The Best Coug Bars On The West Side

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Cheer for WSU at one of these spirited spots

October 11, 2017

You probably know 3 facts about me: I love my dogs, I love my IPAs and I love my Washington State University Cougars. Being a west side Coug in Husky town isn't always easy, but thanks to some killer Coug bars, there's always a place to gather with others who bleed Crimson & Gray!

Just north of Bellingham in Ferndale, Outlaws Saloon is a spectacular Coug bar with country vibes and WSU love throughout. Owner Jamie Ford went to WSU about the same time I did, and although we didn't meet until after we graduated, we have chatted about our love for the Cougars over many an IPA at her bar. Here's what happened in Ferndale after someone bet against our Cougs this past weekend...

In Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood you'll find Marco Polo Bar & Grill, where the drinks are as budget-friendly as they were when I was living in Pullman. Many a Cougar Fight Song has been sung within the bar, and ask Thee Ted Smith from The Mens Room - their fried chicken is a revelation. Everything about this bar reminds me of good times east of the mountains!

Football selfie!! #GoCougs AMAZING NIGHT watching Cougs dominate over USC!

Over in Magnolia, another spectacular Seattle bar for Coug fans is the Magnolia Village Pub. On game day, be sure you get there early to save a spot. They do drink specials, giveaways and lots of fight song singin'!

If you're down south, definitely pop into the Hard Luck Bar & Grill in Tacoma to catch the Cougs in action. While you're there, try their homemade clam chowder because Steve Migs says it's absolutely legendary. If you're a fan of the Crimson & Gray, you'll be in great company - the WSU Alumni Association of Pierce County is known to frequent the bar for game day watch parties!

The first west side Coug bar I ever stepped foot in after graduating was The Joker Pub in Issaquah! They make some mean tots and killer wings, so come hungry. Add 24 taps to the mix and I'll stay all day. They have plenty of big screens so there's not a bad angle in the place when you're watching the Cougs do their thing.

Couldn't think of a better way to say Go Cougs!!!! then with a beer sign --

If you know of another Cougar bar I absolutely MUST check out, send me an email so I can hit 'em up this season! GO COUGS!

Happy Adventuring,
