Local fundraiser will help pair service dogs with Veterans in need

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Rocking For Paws

June 5, 2018

Paws 4 Our Patriots

The PNW is home to thousands of Veterans who proudly protected our freedoms, and no matter how many times we thank them for their service, it's not nearly enough. A local organization called Paws 4 Our Patriots is dedicated to giving back to local Veterans in need in a truly special way - with the gift of a PTS service dog.

This Saturday night in Yelm, you're invited to Rocking For Paws at Dogger's Bar & Grill, an all-day event which will raise a ton of funds and awareness for Paws 4 Our Patriots and all of the incredible work they are doing in our communities to support Veterans in need.

Throughout the day and into the evening, there will be raffle drawings, silent auction items to bid on and some MAJOR grand prizes to win including $300 toward your next tattoo, and all for such a worthy cause!

The dogs of Paws 4 Our Patriots are selected from local rescues. The pups are evaluated initially for temperament and drive to work/play, as they are looking for future service dogs that are eager to please. The cost of getting a dog ready for placement with a Veteran in need is approximately $8,000. Some of these Veterans have a hard time affording leashes and even decent collars or vests, so all of those items are covered through Paws 4 Our Patriots.

We all know someone who has served in the military, and many of these brave men and women suffer from PTSD. The companionship of a service animal can drastically impact the life of a Veteran in need by helping reduce their PTSD symptoms. Paws 4 Our Patriots is an incredible organization dedicated to making a difference, and their goal is to place 22 dogs this year.

Even you cannot attend the event on Saturday, please spread the word of this fundraiser with your friends and family! You can also contact Paws 4 Our Patriots via their website to make a donation. Thank you for supporting our local Veterans, Rockaholics!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
