Off the top of your head, how many rock stars have interviewed their parents in public that you can recall? Not many! Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl had the opportunity to interview his mom, Virginia, and it was way cool. It happened this past Saturday at the L.A. Times Festival Of Books, where Grohl talked with Mama Grohl about her new book From Cradle To Stage: Stories From The Mothers Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars.

"But beyond any biological information, there is love, something that defies all science and reason. And that, I am most fortunate to have been given. It’s maybe the most defining factor in anyone’s life. Surely an artist’s greatest muse. And there is no love like a mother’s love. It is life’s greatest song. We are all indebted to the women who have given us life. For without them, there would be no music." - David Grohl --- #FromCradleToStage out April 18. Preorder available now. Link in bio:

In her book, she documented tons of interviews with other rock star moms, including Michael Stipe from REM's mother Marianne, and the late Amy Winehouse's mother Janis.  When Dave interviewed Virginia about her book, she talked about a few of her favorites, including Dr. Dre's mother Verna Young and Geddy Lee of Rush's mom Mary Weinrib. She even dishes on a time she basically forced Dave to jump on stage with a group of professional jazz musicians in D.C. At the time, he had been playing drums for approximately one year!

Here's a video of Dave and Virginia's awesome chat:
