Rock Blog: Slipknot Fans Shoot Footage For New Video

January 9, 2017

It's no secret that Slipknot fans are a dedicated bunch. We've seen that first hand at Pain In The Grass! But back in August of 2015, Corey Taylor asked a HUGE favor of their fans at the Red Rocks show that would be the ultimate fan appreciation project - film their music video for them.

Before the band performed "Before I Forget", Taylor asked fans to whip out their smarphones and grab footage of them rocking. This cell phone footage has been edited together in a KICK ASS new LIVE video for the song.

Not only does this video capture the insanity of a Slipknot show, it makes me wish I was there! They ALWAYS bring the goods.

However, there has been a bit of backlash from some fans in regards to the approach of collecting footage for the video. Remember last year when Corey Taylor publicly shamed a fan up front for being on his phone during a show? Yeah... it might be a bit hypocritical. I won't dispute that. This tweet was perfect in calling Corey out.

Corey's response was great, though. He owned it. I have to respect that!

For the sake of developing a timeline... the show where they asked fans to film for them happened in 2015, and Corey slapped the phone out of the guy's hand in 2016. Maybe he changed his stance on cell phone usage at concerts between those two incidents? Which side of the debate will he be on in 2017?!?!

No matter which way you slice it, the video is damn cool, and there truly is no bad seat at a Slipknot show, am I right?? Of course I am!

Happy Rocking,
