Seattle Rock Day is April 5th

Tune in all day for everything Seattle

March 30, 2019

Greetings, Dear Rockaholics!

April 5th is a very special day where we will once again drop everything we typically do on a Friday to reflect on Seattle’s rock legacy that will forever be celebrated across the globe. Bands have emerged from the north, south, east and west of our fair city, and they deserve a full day of proper rock recognition.

We’ll reflect on the legendary guitar innovations of Jimi Hendrix and the notes only Geoff Tate of Queensryche could ever hit. We’ll shine the spotlight on Seattle’s favorite rock sisters in the band Heart and remember hauntingly powerful lyrics penned by Chris Cornell.

April 5th also marks the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s passing, a day that Rockaholics everywhere will remember clearly. We all know where we were in 1994 when we learned the news that Nirvana’s frontman had left this world far too soon. We’ll celebrate the life, legacy and music of one of the Seattle sound’s pioneers.

As we honor the past and those we may have lost along the way, it’s important to turn to the present and look to the future with bands like Bruiser Brody, Windowpane and Ayron Jones carrying the torch of the city’s musical heritage.

Join us in belting out the local music we love on Seattle Rock Day, April 5th! You’ll hear those blast-from-the-past jams from bands like Mad Season and Metal Church, plus some curve balls from the likes of Sir Mix-a-Lot.

Seattle Rock Day kicks off at 6am with BJ & Migs, and we'll keep it rolling until Midnight. It’s the ultimate celebration of Seattle music as we throw it back to sold-out shows at RKCNDY, the Super Sonics and even driving on the viaduct! Okay, that wasn’t THAT long ago….

Happy Rocking,

Taryn Daly
