Still Remodeling. Have Questions. Need Answers!

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide

September 25, 2017

The never-ending remodel continues!!! We are coming up on a year since buying the property and the house on it. After months of waiting for permits, blood, sweat and LOTS of tears, we are still living in my parents' basement and REALLY ready to move out. How can YOU help?! Give me your expert advice based on your own experiences!

Coming up in the next few weeks, we will be focusing on 3 main projects: interior painting, repainting and refinishing cabinets and vanities, and installing flooring. Here are my questions, and I am hoping you have the inside scoop!

1. Interior Painting... When it comes to this step in the process, what are your tips and where did you ever go wrong? Did you prime AND paint? Or did you use a primer/paint all-in-one combo? What tools did you find to be the most useful? What brands did you like the best, and what brands would you steer away from?

2. Cabinets & Vanities... We have them. They are sitting in our shop, and we need to clean them, sand them, prime them and paint them. What tips, products and lessons learned can you share with me?

3. Flooring... I am extremely lucky to have some friends and family members who are experienced in this field! When it comes to actually installing flooring, I think we are in great hands. We have selected flooring for about half of our house, but the other half is still up in the air because that half of the house involves stairs. We want flooring that is stair-safe, secure and good for high-traffic. We have dogs ;) And we are NOT interested in carpet! So what brands and styles of flooring have you found to be best for these needs?

Of course I can always look up product reviews on websites, but I always take those with a grain of salt. I'd rather hear from PEOPLE, so I turn to my Rockaholic brothers and sisters once again. Thanks for your insight, my babes and babettes! The good, the bad and the ugly are ALL appreciated! Send me an email with your tips, your lessons learned and your success stories! THANKS!!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
