Taryn's Top 10 Winter Beers

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Brrrr & Beer

November 29, 2017

As the temperatures go down, so do the winter ales - right down our throats to warm us up! Our local breweries are cranking out some holiday treasures at the moment, so make sure you keep an eye out for the ones that top my list:

1. Jolly Roger Christmas Ale - Maritime Pacific Brewing, Seattle: Their English Strong Ale brings you 9.5% ABV and 42 IBUs with smokey-sweet flavors and a crisp finish. It will go down surprisingly easy for as bold as this winter ale reads!

2. 10 Below - Scuttlebutt Brewing Company, Everett: One of the first local winter beers I ever tasted, 10 Below is truly a tradition in the north-end. This Imperial Dunkelweiss is rich and chocolatey, perfect for holiday cheer, holding it down with 22 IBUs and 7.4% ABV!

3. Winter Warmer - Aslan Brewing Company, Bellingham: I'm a big fan of IRAs, and this rendition is a total game changer! It's both piney and sweet, which makes the 6% ABV and 55 IBUs extra cozy on the pallate.

4. Bonfire Brown Ale - Fremont Brewing Company, Seattle: You certainly don't have to enjoy Bonfire around a bonfire, but I highly recommend it. A sensational sipper for cold nights, you'll warm up from the inside without feeling like napping thanks to 6% ABV and 40 IBUs.

We're tapping 3 Bonfire Infusions tonight at 5pm in our Urban Beer Garden: Coffee-Chocolate, Orange-Nutmeg-Cinnamon, and Rootbeer! See you soon!

5. Holy GrALE Imperial Stout - Birdsview Brewing Company, Concrete: If this heavy-hitting stout is not already available, it will be soon, so head east for this 10.5% ABV, SUPER black winter beer. It's a cozy, comfy delight!

ON TAP TODAY!!! Our winter seasonal Holy GrAle Stout is back! Brewed with local honey, the darkest Belgian syrup we could get our hands on, and molasses. Conditioned with Jim Beam Bourbon soaked oak chips, local dark roast coffee, and a little bourbon vanilla for good measure. Coming in at 9.1% ABV this one is sure to warm your belly on these chilly winter days -- #washigtonbrewery #localbrewery #birdsviewbrewing #birdsviewbrewery #washingtonbeer #stout

7. Sumerian Winter Ale - Sumerian Brewing Company, Woodinville: They'll be tapping thisbad boy on Friday night at their Ugly Sweater Party, so be there to sample this bold and malty winter ale. You'll note a heavy hand of earthy hops that accentuates the rich body!

8. Wonderland Winter Warmer - Whitewall Brewing Company, Marysville: Sweet on the front end, bitter on the back end, Whitewall nails it with this warmer. It's a relaxing experience all around, clocking in at 7.6% ABV and 30 IBUs to make you go "Aaahhhhh".
