Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Baseball For The Blind

September 21, 2016

The thought of playing baseball with a blindfold on might sound a little intimidating, but the Seattle Sluggers baseball team steps up to the plate without fear.

The Sluggers play in a league called The National Beep Baseball Association, which is a modified version of the game you grew up playing or watching. Beep Baseball has been around since the 1970s and runs a 30-team league across the country. What makes this league different is that all of the players are blind or visually impaired, and the Seattle Sluggers aim to raise awareness of the capabilities of the blind in Western Washington and beyond.

So how can YOU help the team thrive? The 2016 Sluggers Ball Softball Open, of course!  This INCREDIBLE event takes place on Saturday October 1st at Rainier Beach High School Playfield and is open to the public. You're invited to come meet the players and play in a benefit softball game! There will be a beer garden, food on the grill, and music from the Rece Jay Band

It would be RAD to have the support of our amazing Rockaholics next Saturday - hope to see you there for such a fantastic cause!

If you can't make the event, consider making a donation to the Seattle Sluggers, or check out volunteer opportunities. It all helps our local team thrive!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
