Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Bike MS Deception Pass Classic

July 22, 2016

I've been training my ass off the past few weeks for the Bike MS: Deception Pass Classic coming up on September 10th! This will be my 2nd year, and my 2nd race ever! I am still VERY new to the sport of cycling, but I'm developing quite a love for it. And furthermore, this beautiful ride supports a cause that is VERY near and dear to my heart - fighting for a world free from Multiple Sclerosis.

As may already know, my mom has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for 7 years. We have had so much frustration when it comes to her diagnosis. Everthing from daily injections all over her body, to oral meds that ended up depleting her white blood cell count. She had been denied coverage by insurance companies, and she's fought for mobility assistance to help her on a day-to-day basis. I've cried angry, hot tears many times, because at the end of the day, my hope is to ensure that NO ONE has to endure what my mother has endured. She has always been and will always be the strongest woman I have ever known.

I'm proud to say that despite daily challenges, my mom and dad are set to travel to Europe at the end of the month to see a part of the world they've never seen before. My mom has never, and will never, let MS define her or keep her from living her life. She's a fighter, and I'm so thankful that she passed that trait onto me.

I am thrilled to be riding for my mom and millions of others living with MS for a second year in a row, and I would LOVE your support in any form. I'm looking for more fine folks to join the team, fundraise and ride with me! Even if you are a rookie, please consider riding. I had not been on a bike since my childhoood before I rode in 2015! Trust me, if I can do it, you can do it. If you are unable to ride, please consider donating to the cause! I would LOVE that! If you're not in a place to donate, please spread the word. Tell your friends and family! Those who are passionate about fighting back against MS could REALLY use your help!  Feel free to shoot me an email with any questions you might have, and THANK YOU for your support!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
