Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Flat Tire On A Monday

June 13, 2016

Living in Marysville and commuting to downtown Seattle, I drive about 40 minutes each way on a good day with no traffic. The freeway portion of this morning's drive was easy - no slowdowns, no wrecks along the way - but when I got off the freeway at Stewart/Denny, it was a CRAWL due to some construction, road revisions, and general morning congestion. Since I was just sitting there watching the lights change, waiting for my turn, I didn't even realize my tire was going flat until I turned onto our building's street and started to accelerate. Thankfully I was only two blocks from the loading zone out front of the station! When I got out of my car to take a look at the situation, I noticed an SUV had pulled up behind me and put on their hazard lights. The gentleman driving got out and asked if I knew I had a flat tire, and then offered to help! Turns out he works for Thomas Auto Rescue, and had just happened to see my tire go flat at the intersection! His name was Stacy, and he is my favorite person of the day! Stacy grabbed a fancy jack, pulled out the donut from my Subaru, and switched out my flat for me in MINUTES. He even added some air because the donut was looking a little low. Although I have changed a flat tire before, with Stacy's help it was done SO quickly and he was a total pro. I even made it upstairs to my Monday meeting ON TIME thanks to the fact that he worked as fast a NASCAR pit crew member!  I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Stacy and Thomas Auto Rescue for helping me out this morning. It's refreshing to meet someone willing to help a complete stranger without even being asked! Next time I'm in a bind on the side of the road, I know who I am calling. Be safe out there, Rockaholics!

Happy Adventuring,
