Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Loving Lopez Island

May 16, 2016

It was time for my annual girls getaway with my mom and my two sisters, and I suggested Lopez Island after visiting this past fall for the first time. The ladies were TOTALLY on board after my story-telling, and we planned and executed an AMAZING weekend relaxing on island time.

We took an EARLY ferry to maximize our time on the rock, so of course that meant checking into our place and popping the champagne for mimosas overlooking Fisherman Bay. We stayed at the Fisherman Bay View House which is part of the Lopez Islander Resort, and as you can see, the view was unbelievable. We picked up breakfast from Holly B's Bakery and coffee from Isabel's - YUM!

At lunch time, we ventured to Haven for wine, fried pickles, steamer clams, chicken satay, and Thai fresh rolls - everything was FABULOUS and the weather allowed for us to sit outside. From there, we ventured to Vita's for MORE wine, and enjoyed flights of red and white! If you're into organic, they've got it!

We also did a bit MORE wine tasting at Lopez Island Vineyards with two of the coolest people I have ever met - Bill & Mary. Seriously the most amazing couple EVER.

We had a great dinner and fabulous drinks in the Tiki Lounge at Lopez Islander Resort, which overlooks the Fisherman Bay docks - plenty of boats up there for Lingcod fishing and shrimping! I loved walking the docks and checking out where the boats were from!

And would you check out this bad ass sunset?! We were spoiled rotten by our surroundings.

One of the other stops we made that comes HIGHLY recommended was the Just Heavenly Fudge Factory and Lopez Island Ice Cream Parlor which are conveniently connected to one another. I sampled a LOT of fudge and took home my favorites. Plus, I got to taste-test the first Knucklehead Milkshake concoction, which is Raspberry Almond Bourbon ice cream, chocolate sauce and a drizzle of maple syrup topped with whipped cream and bacon bits!!! Did someone say BACON?! It was heaven in a shake!! Thank you to Lorrie & Natalie for all the tastes :)

We got to wrap up the weekend beach combing Flat Point, watching the ferries cruise through the channel with our toes in the sand. How gorgeous is that view? Thank you to Mary for the grand tour and to Bill for the champagne!

We honestly didn't want to leave, but alas, we all had to work today! Lopez, we will be back SOON and cannot wait for more island time.

Happy Adventuring!
