Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Luck O' The Irish

June 16, 2016

As an avid bar-hopper, I love finding great places to sit down and sip suds. I especially love an atmosphere that's welcoming and laid-back with a "come as you are" vibe. Although there are MANY bars that fit that description, I feel like Irish pubs ALWAYS fit that mold. Now I've been to dozens of Irish pubs over the years, none of which are actually in Ireland, but these four local spots are four of the most inviting pubs I've ever stepped foot in.

Uisce Irish Pub - Bellingham, WA: When I lived in Bellingham, Uisce was always a stop when I went out for a night on the town. Oh, by the way, it's pronounced ISH-kah, which means "water" in Gaelic. The pub is located in the heart of downtown Bellingham and they have an incredible selection of beer, scotch, and whiskey. Just look for the red entry way! I love the vibe here!

The Irishmen Pub - Everett, WA: I lived in Everett a while back, and The Irishmen was conveniently stumbling distance from my old place. This is still my favorite spot for before and after Silvertips and Aquasox games! My favorite time to be in there is when Oliver is in the house performing Irish ballads. I recommend going hungry, because their menu is fabulous, whether you're there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My favorite is the Shepherds' Pie! And tell Barry I said hi when you're in.

Mulleady's Pub - Seattle, WA: When my girlfriend lived up the street from this spot, we were there A LOT, and we closed her down many times. They have one of the most beautiful bars I have ever seen! Definitely check out one of their distillery tasting nights next time one's on the calendar. Their menu rocks and their traditional breakfast offerings are mouth-watering! I have always felt their bartenders were some of the best in the biz.

Galway Bay Irish Pub - Ocean Shores, WA: I love how I feel EVERY time I visit Galway Bay! The staff is super friendly and there's so much to look at all over the walls and tables. They have a FABULOUS Beef In Guinness that I always have to order when I'm there. You can often catch great live music on the weekends, but the perfect time to visit is during the Celtic Music Feis in October!

Now as you know, I am a total and complete IPA girl, but whenever I frequent an Irish Pub, I opt for Smithwick's! Sláinte!

Happy Adventuring,
