Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Pie To The People

January 24, 2017

Yesterday was officially National Pie Day (not to be confused with National Pi Day on 3/14), but I think you should definitely eat pie anytime you want. You don't have to wait for a special day to celebrate! I mean, it's someone's birthday somewhere, so eat pie. Plus, there are many differend kids of pies and they should ALL receive recognition for being awesome. Here are my pie picks in the greater Puget Sound region:

Man Pies - Bellingham: No joke, I CRAVE Man Pies on a regular basis, and when I lived in Bellingham, they were a regular part of my diet. Especially my drunk diet, because they're located right downtown and stay open late to satisfy your booze-fueled hunger!

Taryn's Pick: Get the Spicy Pork & Beans Man Pie, but make sure you get extra BBQ sauce to pour all over it!

Snohomish Pie Company - Snohomish & Mountlake Terrace: This magnificent place has been making pies from scratch since the mid-90s, and you can truly taste the quality ingredients they use! Get to one of their locations early, because their baked goods go FAST. A dear friend of mine featured fabulous Snohomish Pie Company pies at her wedding, and everyone was raving about them.

Taryn's Pick: Their Strawberry Rhubarb Pie is a MUST for the sweet/sour combo lover. A long time favorite of mine, they knock this one out of the park.

Serious Pie - Seattle: With 3 locations to choose from, Serious Pie is one of my favorite places for lunch with friends when I can sneak away from work for an hour! They fire their pizza pies at a whopping 600 degrees for a sensational crunch. This Tom Douglas hot-spot has some of the most intersting flavor combinations I've ever experienced!

Taryn's Pick: This might sound crazy, but get the Penn Cove Clams, pancetta tesa, and lemon thyme pie. It's perfectly salty and smokey with the most incredible aromas!

Shepherd's pie, berry pie, pizza pie, pot pie... I'm a fan of it all! If you have a great pie spot in any of the aforementioned categories, please email me the scoop so I can check it out!

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
