Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Play Ball!

June 14, 2016

Baseball season is BACK! For those who live up north (like me) or down south, it isn't always easy making it to Seattle for a game. If you have a craving for baseball but aren't able to make it to the big city as often as you'd like, there are a couple other places to catch an awesome game right in your back yard!

The Everett Aquasox are a short-season Class A team in the NW League, and they have been playing in Everett since 1984, when they were at one point known as the Everett Giants. Their major league affiliate is the Seattle Mariners, so you might see one of our Ms at Everett Memorial Stadium with the 'Sox every once in a while during injury rehabilitation or a special occasion! I actually worked for the Aquasox in high school and it was one of the most FUN jobs I have ever had. Located in downtown Everett, the atmosphere is family friendly and there are TONS of things to do while you're at the game. The home opener is next Thursday, June 23rd!

The Tacoma Rainiers are the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners and they've been playing in the Pacific Coast League since 1960, where they were originally known as the Tacoma Giants. Just 36 miles from Seattle, Cheney Stadium is WAY fun and perfect for a family get together or a night out with friends. Their next home game is Friday June 17th and you'll want to stick around afterward for the Friday Night Fireworks. At some point this season, you're sure to run into Steve Migs at a game!

The Bellingham Bells are a collegiate summer baseball team in the West Coast League. They play at the historic Joe Martin field, where Ken Griffey Jr. made his professional baseball career debut in 1987 with the Bellingham Mariners! You will always find Boundary Bay brews on tap at the field, and there are so many fun things to see and do while you're at a game. Their next home game is Tuesday June 21st, which means it's $2 Tuesday! You buy one ticket at regular price, and your second ticket is just $2.

Get your crew together, bring the kids, and enjoy a night out at the pall park close to home! Hope to see you at some games this year, Rockaholics.

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
