Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Seattle Celebrates 'Nevermind' Turning 25

September 23, 2016

Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of Nirvana's 'Nevermind', and Seattle's many celebrations are in bloom.

If you think about it, KISW has been celebrating 'Nevermind' DAILY for 25 years straight, and will continue to do so for years to come. Nirvana is one of The Rock's most beloved artists and 'Nevermind' is one of the most iconic albums of all time. But we are not the only ones shedding light on the importance of this album on a local level.

Seattle's Experience Music Project is hosting a very special celebration tomorrow in honor of a band that helped shape the grunge movement in the PNW and represented an entire generation world-wide. 'Nirvana 25' will be like 'Nirvana: Taking Punk To The Masses' on steroids. The exhibit undoubtedly smells like teen spirit, and has taken us through the intimate details of Nirvana's career along with their biggest moments lived in the limelight since it opened in 2011. But for 25th anniversary of 'Nevermind', unseen footage will be revealed on the Sky Church screen and the world's largest collection of Nirvana memorabilia will include some newly acquired pieces of the band's history.

Come as you are, or show up in one of your faded Nirvana shirts, or bring a ticket stub from when you saw them live back in the day, and EMP will knock $5 off museum admission PLUS you will get store discounts and a copy of 'Here We Are Now' by Charles R. Cross while supplies last.

The impact 'Nevermind' has had on our lives will breed revolution for the rest of time, not just here in Seattle but across the globe. Let there be something in the way you celebrate the 25th anniversary that you'll reflect on for years to come.

Happy Adventuring,

Taryn Daly
