This is what you do when you finally pay off your car

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide

January 8, 2018

Saturday was a BIG day for me, Rockaholics. I paid off my car!!! I bought the car 9 years ago this month, and celebrated by eliminating my car payment!

So how does someone like me commemorate such an event? By checking out a new brewery, of course! Brad and I were already traveling to Ferndale for his son's basketball game, so we decided to check out a newer brewery that I have been wanting to visit for some time now: Stone's Throw Brewing Company in Bellingham's Fairhaven neighborhood.

Although it was my first visit, Brad had been there before and was SUPER excited to show it off. Their indoor area is pretty spectacular, with incredible wood work and some unique features, like part of a salvaged bridge and rail road ties making up sections of the bar. The bar itself had built-in pint glass holders that kept your beer SUPER cold!

We opted to sit outside in one of their outdoor areas, of which there are THREE! There's a beer garden out front, a fire pit area out back, and even a rooftop deck. There was no issue with keeping warm next to the fire, but DANG I can't wait to go back in the summertime and sit up top!

I opted for their Neighborhood IPA, which clocks in at 6.2% ABV and 65 IBUs. IPA + outdoor drinking + no car payment = BEST DAY EVER!

Since we showed up hungry, we were excited to see Danielle's Back East BBQ's food truck outside, plus there are several area restaurants just a stone's throw from the brewery (see what I did there?! HA!) that will deliver to Stone's Throw.

It felt SO good to pay off my car this weekend, and I ALWAYS feel good exploring new breweries and supporting local businesses. If you have a new brewery in your neighborhood, please send me an email with the scoop so I can check 'em out! Cheers, Rockaholics!

Happy Adventuring,
