When It Rains, It Pours... So Keep Fit Indoors!

Taryn's Wreckreation Guide: Workouts For Wet Weather

December 1, 2017

The heavy rainfall is getting a little obnoxious, wouldn't you say? Don't get me wrong - I've lived in Western Washington my ENTIRE life and for the most part, I'm used to it, but it's getting REALLY soggy out there! As a result, I haven't done NEARLY as much hiking or cycling as I typically do this time of year, but rather than letting cabin fever take over, I'm opting for indoor recreation!

I picked up my new Trek at Arlington Velo Sport over the summer, and they have indoor cycling classes that are perfect for this time of year! Keeping in shape without getting what I call "swamp foot" is a real treat! They hold classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6pm! No matter where you live, there's likely an indoor cycling option nearby.

My pal Mike Hawk from The Mens Room has recently taken up indoor rock climbing, and the kid is totally CRUSHING it! There are rock climbing facilities all over the greater Puget Sound region, so don't be shy - try something new!

Huge Milestone crossed today. I’ve had the hardest time getting through just a couple inverted grips, but managed an entire route today. Feeling good and loving climbing more and more

A girlfriend of mine recently took up some combat classes and it's been SUPER inspiring to watch her growth! While it's dumping outside, why not?! Find a combat gym near you and get involved - it's okay to be a beginner!

Keep tabs on my brother from another mother and KISW's resident ripped-dude Matt Koch - his blog is called Down With The Fitness and he has a TON of great resources to share with you, Rockaholics!

Of course there's also swimming, yoga, weight lifting and a TON of other options for keeping you dry (minus the sweat you'll be producing!). And you don't have to wait until the 1st of the year to start. Try something new and keep things fresh this season!

Happy Adventuring,
