1984 Turns 35

January 9, 2019

MCMLXXXIV turns XXXV.

Don't call it a comeback.  Sure VH hadn't had a hit that wasn't a cover in 5 years, but they weren't gone.  The biggest rock band in the world dropped their 6th studio album and best selling since their 1st 35 years ago today.

Realted: Is the Original Van Halen Lineup Reuniting for 2019?

1984, the last album with the original VH lineup would go on to more than 10 million copies and spawn VH classics like Panama, I'll Wait, the MTV favorite Hot for Teacher and their only #1 EVER, Jump.

The album itself went only to #2 behind the unassailable "Thriller" from Michael Jackson that parked at the top of the chart for 37 non-consecutive weeks starting back in 1983.  Eddie Van Halen did get a little piece of the #1 spot having played guitar on "Beat It."

Turn down the volume on the A-Team, throw on your favorite muscle shirt and celebrate one of the biggest rock albums of all time.
