Vicky's Dirty N' Nerdy Blog: Nerdy Tattoos

March 23, 2017

Hello my bad ass bitches and bros! I'm bbbaaacckkk!!!

That's right, after some trouble with TSA, a couple long plane rides, and only a few bruises, I am finally back at it this week.

Earlier this week, I stopped by my favorite tattoo shop Niteowl Tattoo to see my buddy Travis Broyles. I've had this plan for months now, and have been saving all my change for a big shin tattoo. It does hurt like everyone says, but I am very happy with the results!

Check it out!

Travis and I got to talking that I've been going to see him for all my tattoo needs for almost 8 years now! That's longer than all my long-term relationships combined! What does that say about me? Actually...let's not tug at that thread...

Any who, over the years I've accumulated quite a few tattoos from him, including a couple of nerdy ones so I'd thought I'd share the stories with you!

My first nerdy piece was this giant Crow portrait. It started off with just the actual crow from another artist when I was 18-19 years old, then Travis turned it into this thing of beauty. In case you didn't know, The Crow is one of my all-time favorite movies. It hits me in the feels every time!

Next I have the X-men logo on my ribs. Yes, it hurt really bad, it's the freaking ribs! I keep putting off adding more to it, but someday I will. X-men was the first comic I read and fell in love with so I thought this was fitting.

My first arm/visible tattoo: X-23. I loved this cover of the comic X-Force so much and I thought about it for years before actually pulling the trigger. I love it!

An honorable mention on my part is this Jolly Roger. It's from a comic book I started writing with my friends over 10 years ago, but that's a different story. Travis did the tattooing while my friend Jo drew me the Jolly Roger.

I then started asking the boys on the show (and I say boys because Sara is tattoo less) and they actually have a few nerdy tats as well!

Danny V:

Can you tell he is a huge Disney and Nightmare Before Christmas fan? He has Jack Skellington and a Haunted Mansion piece. He's such a Disney nerd, but we love him for it!

Uncle Chris:

"This is the "Lineage of Cain", representing the first 3 generations of vampires in the World of Darkness universe. Cain is the center, with his children ( Zillah, Irad and Enoch ) and the Antedeluvians ( founders of the 13 clans )"

"The Klingon script reads: "QamvISHeghqaq law' torvISyInqaqpuS" which means 'Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.'"

"The anime girl I like because of the circuit board background and the fact that she's burning a paper chain of men."

Do you have any nerdy tattoos? What are they?
