Dying Fetus Destroys All

And now my ears are ringing....

May 11, 2016

Dying Fetus never disappoints. It had been a couple years since I last saw John Gallagher and company bring the brutality, so I was ready to get punished by their audio onslaught on Tuesday night….and punished I was. This was the Seattle stop on this year’s Metal Alliance tour, which also features Jungle Rot, The Acacia Strain and Black Crown Initiate. Aside from the awesomeness that was Dying Fetus playing a flawless, spot-on set, I loved seeing Jungle Rot with the high-quality sound system of Studio Seven. I last saw Jungle Rot at Mayhem Fest last summer (which ended up becoming the last Mayhem Fest ever *sob*) and the sound at the outdoor side stage of the White River Amphitheater wasn’t exactly prime for a crunchy old school death metal band like these guys.

It was also great to see The Acacia Strain, as they always inspire a ton of crowd participation with the fusion of moshy metal core and ignorantly heavy sludge metal riffs. The pit looked like a warzone for a bit there, as hardcore dances flailed their limbs and took out more than a few random onlookers with ferocious kicks to the dome. It wasn’t pretty. And of course, the headliners Dying Fetus tore it up, as they proceeded to stomp an audio mudhole in the audience’s collective ass. Not bad for a Tuesday.
